Jan 16 - A French court has ruled that Total was responsible for one of France's worst environmental disasters and ordered it to pay damages for one of France's worst environmental disasters. The tanker Erika broke in two and sank in heavy seas in the Bay of Biscay some 45 miles off the French coast in December 1999.
