A celebrated performance conducted by Leopold Stokowski with the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Festival Hall, London, 14 June 1972. "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" by Claude Debussy. Yes, Stokowski without a baton. He used one on and off for years, but finally gave it up entirely in the 1920s. "Instead of one baton, I now have ten!"

Ave Maria de Caccini est un pastiche composé par Vladimir Vavilov en 1970 et publié par ses soins. Il l’a enregistré sous le label Melodia en 1972. On ne sait pas d’où vient l’attribution à Giulio Caccini car Vavilov a édité et enregistré sa composition comme une œuvre anonyme. L’attribution à Caccini (1551-1618) est d’autant plus étonnante que cet Ave Maria est totalement étranger au style du compositeur italien et à celui de son époque. The stereo version of the Sibelius violin concerto by Heifetz is a great recording but in some ways his 1935 performance is even finer. Here's the first part of the first movement. The London Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Sir Thomas Beecham.
