MNBC Sept 16 2009 Experiment plans to simulate noctilucent clouds, which are sky’s highest By Clara Moskowitz This image shows sightings of noctilucent clouds over Budapest, Hungary on June 15, 2007. A rocket experiment aims to create artificial clouds at the outermost layers of Earth's atmosphere. The project, called the Charged Aerosol Release Experiment (CARE), plans to trigger cloud formation around the rocket's exhaust particles. The clouds are intended to simulate naturally occurring […]
An Inconvenient Voice: Dr. Alan Carlin Ever hear of Alan Carlin? Probably not, and that is the way the Obama Administration wants to keep it. Dr. Carlin is an Environmental Protection Agency veteran who recently wrote a damaging report, warning that the science behind climate change was questionable at best, and that we shouldn’t pass laws that will hurt American families and hobble the nation’s economy based on incomplete information. Despite its promise to put science above politics, the […]

Feb 19 - China's cloud-seeding yields Beijing's first snow, after its longest drought in 38 years. Other Chinese provinces such as Gansu, facing a threatening reduction of wheat production, have also been in a race to produce more rain and snow.
If the reflectivity of clouds could be increased slightly, sufficient sunlight would be reflected to compensate for any future release of CO2 into the atmosphere. One method of doing this would be to eject seawater spray into the air using a fleet of automated ships. It's estimated that 50 ships costing a few million dollars each could spray enough seawater to do the job. Full-length documentary: Climate change:"5 ways to save the world"(film,2007, 59')

Dumping iron sulphate into the ocean, or, how to 'geo-engineer' the climate Source: image.examiner.com By Jim Thomas 24/02/2009 Climate change due to human interference with fragile ecosystems? No problem - we can just dump 20 tonnes of iron sulphate into the ocean The time has come to talk about geo-engineering – and I mean really talk about it. If you’ve never heard the term then get used to it because ‘geo-engineering’ will be turning up more in editorials, policy pronouncements and […]

"Sans le phénomène d'assombrissement global » (« global dimming »), observé depuis les années cinquante (de 1950 à 1985, le rayonnement solaire à la surface de la terre a diminué globalement de 8 à 30% - avec des disparités importantes selon les régions du monde) et qui s'inverserait depuis quelques années, le réchauffement climatique serait encore plus important." Published on Friday, January 2, 2009 by Agence France Presse Coral Decline Warns of Ocean Changes: Australian Scientists SYDNEY - A sharp slowdown in coral growth on Australia's Great Barrier Reef since 1990 is a warning sign that precipitous changes in the world's oceans may be imminent, scientists said Friday. Source: myclimatechange.net Strong evidence points to the cause being a combination of warmer seas and higher acidity from increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, Australian […]

Guardian.UK (Archives March 3 2008) http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/mar/26/poles.antarctica A vast hunk of floating ice has broken away from the Antarctic peninsula, threatening the collapse of a much larger ice shelf behind it, in a development that has shocked climate scientists. Satellite images show that about 160 square miles of the Wilkins ice shelf has been lost since the end of February, leaving the ice interior now "hanging by a thread". The collapsing shelf suggests […]
Greenleft ByPatrick Bond, Rehana Dada & Graham Erion With climate change posing as one of the gravest threats to capital accumulation - not to mention humankind and our environment - in coming decades, it is little wonder that economists such as Sir Nick Stern, establishment politicians like Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown and US Democrat Al Gore, and financiers at the World Bank and in the City of London have begun warning the public and, in the process, birthing a market for […]
